“Please! Notice Me!”
You were made to be seen and known and deeply loved. The question is, how are you going to respond to this longing in your soul to be noticed, to be loved, to be called gorgeous?
Girls deal with the need to be noticed in different ways. Some dress inappropriately, showing lots of skin to make guys (and other people) notice. Some girls pierce holes here, there, and everywhere. Others spend tons of money on their hair clothes, and nails to make sure they look perfect. Some even have plastic surgery to fix a “problem” with their physical appearance.
You’re no the only girl who feels invisible. Other girls feel it too. In fact, even people in the Bible felt alone, left out, and forgotten. There’s a story about a woman who probably felt invisible. Read Luke 8:43-48 to learn more about her.
But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me."
We don’t know this woman’s name, but we do know that she lived in a strict culture in which her medical condition made her an outcast. She wasn’t allowed to go to church, couldn’t be intimate with her husband, and can’t hang out with her friends for 12 years! No birthday parties. No hugs. No meals with her family. She was lonely! She was miserable to find a cure, but no one could heal her.
Can you imagine how desperate this woman felt? Everyone pretended she was invisible. If you were her, how would you have felt? This woman must have been petrified around that crowd of people. However, when you’re feeling alone and forgotten, you’ll do what it takes. Notice what happened after she touched Jesus’ robe. He noticed. He asked who touched Him. And it scared the woman.
Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet.
Did you catch that? She was trying to slip into and out of the crowd unnoticed. She was trying to remain invisible. After all this time, nobody paid attention to her. But she was encountering no ordinary person; she was encountering God.
And to God, nobody is anonymous. Nobody is invisible. And that includes YOU!
